A Portrait of a Domestic, Oil on Artist Board, Dr. Salus Circa 1950
The beautiful impressionist portrait of a domestic captures the close relationship the sitter and the artist had. Dr. Salus, a resident of the greater Cleveland area, painted as a hobby. This was just one of several portraits he painted. The lady worked for the family for decades and during the 1950’s sat for this portrait. Salus was friends with Roy Lichtenstein and painted this while Lichtenstein resided in Cleveland.
