Oil on Panel, Harbor Scene, Late 19th Century
The charming scene of a natural harbor is serene. The water’s edge is dotted with activity as the harbor has small sail boats on the move. The harbor gives way to a larger body of water in the distance where on the cliff is a cluster of buildings. This cluster could be an abbey or small town. The painting is signed in the lower right corner “Rose”. The painting is housed in a deep gilt frame with an oak leaf molded detail.
