Vintage Lithograph The White House George Schreiber Framed Print
Lithographs are always a great addition to art collections! This George Schreiber print almost looks like a charcoal and ink drawing with the subtle shadowing and expressive, detailed marks. The White House features a young man in a suit, with hat in-hand, standing outside a building that seems closed with missing window panes and papered doors. Moody, layered, and perfectly composed, you could stare at this print for hours!

briefly concerning the artist: When Georges Schreiber came to the United States from his native Belgium he was so grateful to this country for the opportunities offered him that he travelled into each of the 48 states on the monumental task of recording in 48 paintings his impression of each of the states. Schreiber probably knows America today better than most native artists. Winner of the Tuthill Prize of the International Exhibition of Water Colors at the Chicago Art Institute in 1932, Schreiber made rapid strides to reach the highest rank in water color and oil painting. He has achieved the recognition of out museums and now is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum, the Metropolitan Museum, Syracuse Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Museum of the City of New York. Author of "Portraits and Self-Portraits, Schreiber caught American public characters in rapid sketches. The circus has always been an inspiration to Schreiber and many of his paintings deal with this theme.
