Without knowing the sitter's name, we still get a sense of who she was in this vibrant portrait by Dr. Salus. Painted in Impressionist style, this painting has energy through capturing feeling and a specific time in one. The colors are reminiscent of Van Gogh while the woman's position and expression call to classical romantic portraits. A sweet smile and somber eyes surrounded with a radiating aura of brushstrokes. Collector's Notes:

Dr. Salus, a resident of the greater Cleveland area, painted as a hobby. This was just one of several portraits he painted. The woman featured in this portrait worked for the family for decades and during the 1950’s sat for this portrait. Salus was friends with Roy Lichtenstein and painted this while Lichtenstein resided in Cleveland.
