Introducing one of Steuben's Aurene collection: this shimmering Iridescent Glass Ruffle Rim Trumpet Vase. Frederick Carder (1863-1963) worked for Steuben Glass Works in Corning, NY from 1903-1932 and developed the Aurene style. The unique surface is created by spraying stannous or lead chloride onto the glass and reheating it in a controlled way. When Tiffany Glass saw the results, there was a little drama in feeling their process was being stolen. That didn't stop Carder from continuing to make these beautiful pieces! Even today, we are mesmerized by the glimmering tonal shifts that occur on the vase's perfectly shaped surface.
