A Pair of Bronze Neoclassical Three Light Sconces
The Pair are casted identically with a flaming urn over a tapering squared fluted column finished with a grape leaf and fruit finial. The column style backplate supports three curling arms. Each arm supports and nozzle over a large saucer shaped base. The details through our are wonderful for the ram’s heads, acanthus leaves, and banding on the bobeches and saucer supports.
The verso reveals a few facts about the sconce. One the arms are cast separately and then attached. Two, the sconces were made to be electrified. The holes in the back lead to channels in each of the arms where the wire would lead to the nozzles.
