A woodblock print from the series “One Hundred Chrysanthemums” created in 1893 which captures the diverse forms of the flower.
The kiku or chrysanthemum is the official flower of Japan and the crest of the emperor. These flowers are a symbol of the sun, longevity, and perfection.
Little is known about the artist, but they were active in the late 19th century creating woodblock prints, as well as patterns for kimonos and washi paper. The name Keika is usually a woman’s name.
