Signed "Robert L Hamon" on base. Less than expected wear for preloved item. Minor surface scuffing.
Robert L. Hamon (1925-2003) was a second-generation glassmaker. His family opened a glassblowing studio during the Great Depression and managed to keep it afloat through making necessary lifestyle glass like lamp chimneys. Hamon and one of his brothers served in the Navy during WWII. His family still produced glassworks during this time. They eventually all moved back to West Virginia where they continued to make a variety of goods. When his parents retired, Robert took over production and eventually shut down the factory to create a small glass studio where he could focus on creative works of art and practice like this paperweight.
