The Flaminian Obelisk in 19th Century travel-friendly size! The original is located in the Piazza del Popolo after it was rediscovered by Pope Sixtus V’s expeditions in 1568. Before it was buried in time, it had been moved from Heliopolis, Egypt to Rome under the orders of Augustus in 10BCE. The obelisk hieroglyphs describe moments in Pharaoh Seti and his son, Ramses II offerings to goddess of truth, Maat, and the sun god, Re. Latin inscription on the base dedicates the monument to Ceasar Augustus. This 19th century souvenir is a work of art!

19th Century Grand Tour Flaminian Obelisk Italian Marble Stone Copy Sculpture; Egyptian hieroglyph carvings on all four sides of the obelisk and Latin on one side of the pedestal. Taped note on bottom is from original owner's family.
Condition: Excellent
Less than expected wear for age; minor chipping and scuffing. Inspect images and video.
