War history and art combine in this pair of Antique Lithographs. They depict Crimean War scenes, one of the Battle of Balaclava and the other, Passage of the Ingour, by Omar Pasa. The illustrative scenes are both sad and beautiful in their depictions of events. Framed and ready to hang on the wall!
The Battle of Balaclava took place on October 25, 1854 and was fought between the Russian Empire and an alliance of the Ottoman Empire, France, and the united Kingdom. This is famous for the Charge of the Heavy Brigade and the Charge of the Light Brigade, which was a disastrous calvary charge due to miscommunication, and later immortalized in a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson. The second engraving depicts the Ottoman Turkish army, led by Omar Pasha, crossing the Inguri River.
