Though the original Mantikolos Apollo (700-675 B.C) is part of the MFABoston Collections, this vintage reproduction could decorate your home. It is an important early Greek artwork for its depiction of the human form.  An inscription on the original dedicates the votive offering to the god Apollo from Mantikolos asking for an offering as equally pleasing as the sculpture he presents. It is suggested Mantikolos was an elite member tied to Thebes, the hub for Apollo worship, to afford a sculpture of quality metals and craftsmanship of the era. It is unknown whether the figure represents Apollo or Mantikolos, whatever he held in his hand would've been the determining factor but was lost to time. Like the original, the main figure is constructed with bronze. A cylindrical brushed steel toned base props the small statue up. Add a touch of antiquity to any room with this storied sculpture!
