"Give me some sugar" becomes a little more endearing when applied to these Antique 1790 Hester Bateman Sugar Tongs. Elegantly shaped and then detailed with finely designed bright cut carvings. Fun Fact: Hester Bateman married a goldsmith. After he died, she inherited his tools and registered her own business trademarks. To this day, her designs are well-loved by collectors and artisan admirers alike. Although she retired in 1790, her family-owned legacy continued making silver goods to the mid-1840s. With every pinch of sugar or cube of cheese, these tongs celebrate a unique legacy!

Monogram on handle reads "WSP"; we like to think it means "With Sugar Please".
Hallmark and assay marks inside tongs. "HB" with hand written "7104K-"; English lion and King George III's portrait on other side to mark assay and duty.
Condition: Excellent
Less than expected wear for age; minor scuffing and discoloration on surface synonymous with silver. Inspect images and video.
