Kathleen McCarty, American (1965-)
Kathleen McCarty is an accomplished artist known for her unique use of color and intricate printmaking techniques, particularly aquatints. Her works often explore themes related to the natural world and abstract concepts.
McCarty is an abstract artist based in Anacortes, Washington. She received her BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, with a year abroad studying in Florence, Italy. Her work has been exhibited extensively in the Northwest and appears in many private collections in the U.S. and abroad.
Aquatint is a printmaking technique used to create tonal effects by applying a powdered resin to the metal plate before etching it. This process allows for rich gradients of texture and depth, making aquatints highly prized in the art world.
