Antique Victorian Etruscan Majolica Pink Maple Leaf Decorative Plate; Very detailed relief with multi-toned green and yellow Maple leaves and branches set against a glossy mottled glaze background in a pastel pink hue. The contrasting rim is done in a light-yellow color. The reverse side features a mottled tortoiseshell glaze in hues of green, brown and cream.
Created by Griffin Smith and Hill circa 1879-1892. Etruscan Majolica was made with many background colors. The "Etruscan Pink" background on this plate is considered the most collectable colorway, as opposed to the more widely used white, ivory, or cream colors. Manufactured in Phoenixville Pennsylvania.
Signature/Hallmarks: A circular impression "Etruscan Majolica" logo that frames a GSH monogram.
Condition: Excellent
Less than expected wear for age; No cracks with minor glaze crazing, what may appear as dents/loss are stamps pressed into the back and coated in glaze. Inspect images and video.
