Matilda Browne, American (1869-1947)
Matilda Browne was a successful American Impressionist in the early 20th century. From a young age she showed promising artistic talent growing up in Newark, New Jersey. She started studying art at a young age and traveled to Europe for training, exhibiting at the National Academy of Design at only 12 years old. She became a respected and successful artist who won numerous awards, including the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and exhibited at the Paris Salon. Even though she was so successful during her time, few know about her today.
