Collector's Notes:
Blenko established 1893 in the United States; Blenko Glass was founded in the late 19th Century by William J Blenko, but became fully footed in West Virginia around the 1920s. Though the company originally began producing window glass, it quickly adapted to demand for practical and then decorative home goods. These spectacular glass bookends were first released in Blenko's 1969 catalog; designed by Joel Myers for Blenko from 1960's to 1970's. Like other products, these stylistic owl bookends could be ordered in a variety of colors. This pair in cobalt blue glass makes us think of rippling water. The Blenko family glassworks is currently in its fourth generation of leadership.
