Known for his figural inclusions in ceramics, Daniel Postotnik has gained repute in museums and personal collections alike. This "Big Cup of Joe" features his iconic figural designs as well as unique glazing. A series of four male profiles decorate one side of the mug while a similar style mug with steam decorates the opposing side. Between them, the stylized name of the piece framed in a rectangle. A yellow rim ties in the yellow of the swirling, dotted handle. Black and magenta lines crisscross below the yellow rim. Unglazed terracotta makes a visual pedestal for this mug. An iconic piece for your growing art collection!

Vintage Daniel Postotnik Hand Potted Illustrative Portrait Mug As Found; Cleveland Artist (b. 1961-2025); no visible signature; acquired as part of a collection of Postotnik's works. Daniel Postotnik was a talented man in many areas, but excelled in his unique approach to ceramics. He earned a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, apprenticed tile-making at the Moravian Pottery and Tileworks in Doylestown, PA, received the Ohio Arts Council Fellowship, taught at both the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art, and both participated as well as curated gallery shows. His legacy in the Cleveland area surpasses just his art and is worth exploring.
Condition: As Found
Expected wear for age; was broken and lovingly repaired prior to our acquisition, most pieces were recovered with minor shards and glazing missing. Inspect images and video.
